Legendary Origins
History of The Golden Mile
The Golden Mile’s history dates back to the 1950s when Prince Alfonso von Hohenlohe, a Spanish-German aristocrat, founded the Marbella Club Hotel. His vision was to create a luxurious Mediterranean retreat for European royalty, Hollywood celebrities, and the world’s elite.
The Marbella Club and later Puente Romano became legendary, attracting distinguished guests such as Brigitte Bardot, Audrey Hepburn, and the Saudi royal family. Originally, the term “Golden Mile” was to describe the distance between the Marbella Club Hotel and Puente Romano.
However, over time, it has taken on a more metaphorical meaning, describing the surrounding area that encompasses these two hotels.
